A Behind-the-Scenes Look at 'Pitch Perfect 3' Is Here, and It's Aca-Amazing
The very first Pitch Perfect came out in 2012, and we immediately fell in love with its snappy one-liners and a cappella renditions. Since then, we’ve kept cheering for the Barden Bellas—not only because they can harmonize the hell out of songs like “No Diggity” and “Flashlight,” but because we genuinely want to root for them off the stage as well. Now they’re coming back for Pitch Perfect 3 this December, and we’ve gotten our very first glimpse of what it will look like after the first trailer teaser dropped on Friday.
The film was directed by Trish Sie who also directed Step Up: All In and that crazy-viral OK Go treadmill music video for “Here It Goes Again.” It’s also the second Pitch Perfect installment to be directed by a woman after Elizabeth Banks directed Pitch Perfect 2.
In the first promo for the movie, Sie takes us behind the scenes to check out the cast and crew filming some of the craziest—and most heart-warming—scenes.
The cast has been teasing the upcoming film for months now on social media (cute examples below), so it’s a relief to finally have a peek inside the movie.
The new promo video is a montage of social media posts alongside shots of what Sie calls a “global tour with the Bellas.” Scenes include the girl gang heading to a casino, Anna Kendrick jumping off a submarine, and Rebel Wilson getting attacked by some scary-looking dogs (which, um, she’s actually allergic to). John Lithgow also makes an appearance—apparently he and Wilson became “peas in a pod” while working together, according to Sie.
Tears ensue on their last day on set. There are a lot of group hugs. Soooo…that means they’re all game to film a fourth film, right?
Check out the video for yourself below, and then start the countdown to December. Six months isn’t that long…
